Friday December 28th, 2012 00:17 Episode 71: Manly Mustaches and Ponytails

While the two films reviewed on the show this week don’t have a ton in common, what they do have is pretty outstanding…. giant mustaches and ponytails on our lead actors!

The first film reviewed is John Boorman’s infamous(?) 1974 film ZARDOZ

The second is a little John Cassavetes joint from 1971 called MINNIE AND MOSKOWITZ. Wait til you see the mane on Cassell!

A thanks this week to Bad James from Australia for a song used on the first break. I fail to mention it because I was lazy and didn’t prepare the breaks ahead of time and we weren’t listening to them live. Next time, buddy, I promise

Happy New Year, Miners!

Music this week:
The Art of War – A Small Victory
Radiohead – Reckoner
Oppenheimer Analysis – The Devil’s Dancers

Saturday September 15th, 2012 21:44 Episode 56: Out of Place, Out of Time

Loaf and Zom are joined this week by the one and only Jake McLargeHuge, from the fantastic Asian film podcast Podcast Without Honor and Humanity, who dropped by to play with us and review a couple films about dudes not quite in their right time.

The first film discussed is a Terry Gilliam film from fairly early on in his post-Monty Python career… one appealing to young and old alike… 1981’s TIME BANDITS.

Next we jump ahead a decade to a quite different film starring Sly and Snipes, the at times over the top DEMOLITION MAN from 1993.

Epic long show this week

Lots to sink your pointy teeth into

Bon apetit!

Music this week:
Led Zeppelin – How Many More Times
Duran Duran – Vertigo (Do The Demolition)
Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)

Thursday September 6th, 2012 08:50 Episode 55: Coal Minin’

This week on the show, Mr. Higgins of Hammicus inspired a double feature of coal miners versus coal companies

The first film we review is a clash of titans – Richard Harris and Sean Connery in THE MOLLY MAGUIRES

The second film we review is MATEWAN, a 1987 John Sayles film about a union dispute in Matewan, WV in the 1920s.

Aaaaaand maybe a little pinko political talkin.

Just a little
