Friday March 23rd, 2012 07:00 Episode 31: Just Outta Jail

This week on Ye Olde Silva & Gold we cover a couple films about men adjusting to life after prison. They are quite different, but share some definite common themes.

First we talk about a probably underseen Richard Farnsworth film from 1982 called The Grey Fox, a biopic that has Farnsworth playing The Gentlemen Bandit Bill Miner who has just been released from a 33 year prison term in 1903 only to discover a far different society.

Next we jump into another probably underseen film from 1978 starring Dustin Hoffman in a rare tough guy role as Max Dembo in Straight Time. Busey, M. Emmitt Walsh, Cathy Bates, Harry Dean Stanton… this one’s chock full of fun.

Music this week:
Iron Maiden – The Prisoner
Melvins – Set Me Straight
The Cramps – Jailhouse Rock
