Friday February 17th, 2012 07:00 Episode 26: NASCAR style

Silva & Gold & Loaf & Zom return this week bringin you some good ol boy stock car racin movies…. in particular two biopics.

The first film we discuss is 1977’s Greased Lightning starring Richard Pryor, Beau Bridges, and Pam Grier… a film about NASCAR’s first black driver Wendell Scott.

The second film is a possibly lesser known Jeff Bridges film from 1973 called The Last American Hero… based on the story of driver Junior Johnson.

We ramble on more than usual about pretty much everything and draw this out way too long. Who really needs to hear about soup and catheters? Oh well, it’s free so shut yer yap.

YEEEE haawwww

Music this week:
Jack Nitzsche – The Last Race
Jim Croce – I Got A Name
Don Agree & The Digets – My Car’s Faster Than Your Car

Friday January 6th, 2012 07:31 Episode 20: Fate and Free Will

Loaf and Zom get a little (just barely) metaphysical this week for the New Year with a couple films exploring fate and free will.

One is 1972’s Slaughterhouse-Five directed by George Roy Hill. It is based on the book of the same name by Kurt Vonnegut about a time traveling average joe who simultaneously finds himself in the Battle of the Bulge, Dresden, Germany, and abducted by aliens in the far future.

Next we cover a modern classic starring Bill Murray and directed by Harold Ramis, 1993’s Groundhog Day. If you don’t love Murray, we will hunt you down.

Music this week:

Mission of Burma – That’s How I Escaped My Certain Fate
Bob Dylan – Simple Twist of Fate
